PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan isn't happy with Microsoft's Call of Duty proposal...
. Spencer described the offer as one that"goes well beyond typical gaming industry agreements." Now, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has piped up, saying the proposal fails to take into account the impact it will have on PlayStation gamers., Ryan said,"I hadn’t intended to comment on what I understood to be a private business discussion, but I feel the need to set the record straight because Phil Spencer brought this into the public forum.
"Microsoft has only offered for Call of Duty to remain on PlayStation for three years after the current agreement between Activision and Sony ends. After almost 20 years of Call of Duty on PlayStation, their proposal was inadequate on many levels and failed to take account of the impact on our gamers. We want to guarantee PlayStation gamers continue to have the highest quality Call of Duty experience, and Microsoft’s proposal undermines this principle.
, saying that if the deal were to go through,"Microsoft could use its control over popular games like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft post-merger to harm rivals." The regulator has raised concerns with Microsoft and Activision Blizzard and is considering launching a second investigation if its concerns are not addressed.
Shortly after the announcement, Phil Spencer said that Microsoft would"continue to engage with regulators with a spirit of transparency and openness as they review this acquisition."
