An employment tribunal ruled that her superiors attempted to 'steer things against her'
A police officer was victimised at the hands of her bosses who falsified records, an employment tribunal has ruled.
The officer said she planned on resuming her normal duties but in May 2019 a report recommended she was “fit to resume work in a recuperative role such as sedentary office-based duties”. The officer’s GP had also recommended that "until further notice - not front line operational and not force control room".
The tribunal found that there was "no evidence of HR support to those trying to manage the claimant" and "the result was that the claimant was not formally put on adjusted duties".The constabulary was further criticised for its dealings with the officer's PTSD with Superintendent Chris Hardy, who was the Chief Inspector responsible for policing delivery in Lancaster and Morecambe at the time, likening it to having a broken leg.
In October 2021, after the officer had submitted a grievance for disability discrimination, an appeal hearing was conducted by Chief Superintendent Richard Robertshaw. In a meeting Chief Superintendent Robertshaw made comments about the claimant being a challenging individual and difficult to deal with.
