Investigators believe it slipped off someone's hand when they were dropping things off.
Police in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, are looking for the owner of a wedding ring that was recently found at the community compost site.According to Sgt. Barry Waltz with Manheim Township police, 'A resident contacted one of our workers at the compost pile and said we found this wedding band.'The ring is now in the hands of the police department. It is considered found property.Investigators believe it slipped off someone's hand when they were dropping things off.
'It was a couple days away from being lost forever,' said Waltz.The simple gold band does have a few distinguishing features. There's an inscription on the inside with the wedding date in 1963. A set of initials is also inside.Police have done some investigating but so far have come up empty.According to Waltz, 'We looked at the marriage license website, we looked at the dates. Everybody that was married on that date, no initials lined up.
