Suspect at window negotiating with officers at Half Mile Green area of Stanningley in Leeds
Police have been in a six-hour stand-off with a man suspected of having a handgun in a house in Leeds .
The operation is taking place in the Half Mile Green area of Stanningley with video showing dozens of armed police in the street. Armoured vehicles can also be seen moving into place in the street. There are also several marked police vehicles and ambulance incident units at the scene. It is understood that local residents have also be warned to stay indoors as the operation is carried out.A woman said: “I’ve never seen anything like this before. There’s quite a lot of police here. I was just in Tesco - this is my road to go home and I was like ‘what’s going on.” She said it’s a shock and added that she felt “afraid but curious” at what she saw.
A cordon is currently in place and various emergency service resources, including police negotiators, are at the scene working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. The male is the only person in the address and there is no risk to the wider community."
