20 stations managed by Network Rail were reportedly targeted in a Wi-Fi 'cyber security' incident
An investigation has been launched after a hacking incident at Liverpool Lime Street station and other train stations across the UK. Users of the Wi-Fi service at all 20 stations managed by Network Rail were targeted in the incident which saw users being fed with a message about terrorism. The internet at Liverpool Lime Street was targeted by the ''cyber security incident' on Wednesday night.
All the stations targeted are managed by Network Rail, including Manchester's Piccadilly, London Euston and Victoria, reports Manchester Evening News . British Transport Police have confirmed they are investigating. A spokesperson for the force said: 'We are aware of a cyber-attack that affected some Network Rail Wi-Fi services, reported to us at around 5.03pm today . We are working with Network Rail to investigate the incident.
