253 people have been arrested as part of Operation Limit
Police have issued a warning after 250 people 'ruined their Christmas' after being arrested on suspicion of drink and/or drug driving. It comes as part of a campaign called Operation Limit, which runs throughout December and is aimed at preventing drug and drink related casualties across the Christmas period. Officers have been out on Merseyside’s roads conducting random stop checks, with drug wipes and breathalysers at the roadside.
By carrying out these stops we hope that fewer people will be less inclined to drink or drug drive on the streets of Merseyside, which hopefully then results in fewer people being killed or injured on our roads. “Even though proportionately to the population of Merseyside these are only very small numbers, it’s unbelievable that 253 people thought it was acceptable to get behind the wheel when they were unfit to drive through alcohol or drugs.
