Police have charged a man for possession of an offensive weapon following an incident on Eastbank Street
Police have today named a man charged for possession of an offensive weapon after a knife was seized in Southport . Officers received a report at 6.50pm on Tuesday that a man had been seen with a knife on Eastbank Street. Police said a man was detained around five minutes later at 6.55pm and a knife was recovered. There were no reports anyone was injured during the incident, police said.
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said in a previous statement: “We know too well the devastating impact knife crime can have for victims, their families and friends, and those who carry them. 'This week has seen an unspeakable tragedy unfold in Southport, and this incident occurred a short distance from where a vigil had been happening where the community was paying their respects to all those affected.
