South Yorkshire Police responded to concerns of a man with weapons posing a risk to himself around 7pm last night, leading to the evacuation of an apartment block and orders for people in neighbouring towers to stay inside. Emergency services remain at the scene and the Sheffield Parkway remains closed causing significant traffic delays.
Pictures have been posted online showing police negotiating with a 'dangerous man' on a balcony. South Yorkshire Police were alerted to concerns of a man who was 'at risk to himself with weapons' around 7pm last night which led to a mass eviction of the apartment block in Sheffield and people in other neighbouring towers ordered to stay inside.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "We, alongside other emergency services remain on scene at Broad Street in Sheffield. Just after 7pm last night we responded to concerns for a man inside a property, alleged to have weapons and pose a risk to himself.
