PC Kevin Markowski will go on trial on June 10 next year. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges
A Nottinghamshire Police officer accused of assaulting a 16-year-old girl in the back of a police car is still currently serving on the force, it has been confirmed. PC Kevin Markowski has pleaded not guilty to assault by beating and non-fatal intentional strangulation of a child.
The charges relate to an incident in Front Street, in Arnold, on August 24 last year. Nottinghamshire Police has confirmed that PC Kevin Markowski is still serving on the force as of Thursday, November 9 while the court case remains ongoing. His latest court appearance was at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, November 6 via a video link for a pre-trial hearing. Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight told PC Markowski his case will next be listed for a further pre-trial hearing on 28 February next year. He will also be allowed to attend that hearing via video link.
The officer will go on trial at the same court on 10 June 2024. His trial is expected to last five days. PC Markowski, 46, of Calverton, Nottinghamshire, was granted unconditional bail by Judge Sjolin Knight.
