Three girls stabbed to death by a hooded knifeman who stormed a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport have been named today as seven people including five children remain in a critical condition in hospital.

Detectives investigating the mass stabbing at a Southport Taylor Swift -themed holiday club that left three children dead have been granted more time to question the 17-year-old suspect.

Three girls - Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven - were fatally stabbed, while eight other children suffered knife wounds - five of whom are in a critical condition. Two adults were also critically hurt. According to police the rioters, who were mostly male, were thought to be largely from outside the local area and some were said to be supporters of the far-right English Defence League.

Mr Balasuryla said he called 999 after spotting men trying to smash their way in on the CCTV camera from his home five minutes away. Jenni Stancombe, the mother of little Elsie, pleaded for violence to end on social media after a night of rioting'It was terrifying last night,' he said.Police officers suffered serious injuries when bricks, stones and bottles were thrown and cars were set alight during violent protests following a vigil for the three girls.
