Derbyshire police investigating after a man in his 70s died in a plane crash over the weekend have asked anyone with CCTV footage to come forward. The pilot was the only person on board during the collision and officers say they would like to hear from anyone who has any CCTV footage of the plane between 8.55am and 9.15am on Sunday, September 1.
The flight path of the Evektor SportStar was released by by FlightRader24, an established aviation service, and showed the aircraft circling over Chesterfield before crashing at an industrial estate. It's thought that the light aircraft had flown for about eight minutes from Coal Aston Airfield, located in the the village of Apperknowle, near Dronfield, before crashing at land off Sheepbridge Lane, Sheepbridge.A spokesperson for the force said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who has any CCTV footage of the plane between 8.55am and 9.15am on Sunday, September 1. Anyone who can help with our investigation is asked to contact quoting the reference 24*521057.
The last recorded journey made by the plane prior to Sunday's crash was completed on Thursday, August 29, in which the plane travelled from Netheravon Airfield, Wiltshire, to Coal Aston in a one hour and 40-minute flight.
