Police say they uncovered a large stash of mamba and a banned weapon after searching a car in a Nottingham neighbourhood. Officers pulled over a vehicle on Bestwood Road in Sherwood at around 9.20pm on Sunday, September 1.

The force said road crime officers then found a bag full of the Class B drug mamba, which is a man-made drug similar to cannabis, along with an extendable baton. These items were seized and two people were arrested by officers. A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs and possessing an offensive weapon in public. The suspect was additionally arrested for drug-driving, failing to stop and driving without a valid licence, Nottinghamshire Police said.A 48-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs and possessing an offensive weapon in public.

"There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to carry this type of weapon – in fact it is also on a list of offensive weapons that are banned to keep in a private setting in the UK. Bearing this in mind, we were pleased to be able to seize these items, and also arrest two people in the process that we suspect could be involved in the supply of drugs.”
