Nottinghamshire Police secured a closure order on a property in Hyson Green, notorious for drug dealing and anti-social behavior, following complaints from residents. The order prohibits entry to the property for three months and aims to protect the community from further disturbances.
Nottinghamshire Police have shut down a property linked to drug dealing and anti-social behavior in Hyson Green . The force secured a closure order from Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 16 after complaints about the property in Hovenden Gardens. The complaints ranged from drug paraphernalia left in public places and on private properties to fights, intimidating behavior and open drug use.
Police say the occupant had been repeatedly warned about her behavior but those warnings were ignored. The closure order, which means nobody is allowed to enter the property for three months, was deemed appropriate by both the police and Nottingham City Council’s Anti-Social Behavior (ASB) Service in order to stop the situation escalating. PC Brendan Farrell, of the city central neighborhood policing team, said: “We have been monitoring this property over the last year and in that time have received multiple complaints about drug-related crime. Over a period of months it became a magnet for crime and disorder and was causing considerable upset to residents. “In addition to the robust action we have already taken, we have now secured a closure order on this property which will further protect neighboring residents. This is the second closure order we have carried out in Hyson Green in the last few months and will continue to do so as we work to tackle drug related crime and disorder in the area.” Nottingham City Council's principal enforcement officer Sabina Besic added: “Closure orders are significant powers that we do not use lightly. While we recognize that the perpetrators in this case are vulnerable individuals struggling with drug use, the safety and wellbeing of the wider community must take priority. “We are committed to addressing serious anti-social behavior to ensure our citizens feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods. The closure order demonstrates Nottingham City Council’s and Nottinghamshire Police’s commitment to tackling anti-social behavior and safeguarding communities.” Alongside this, a 50-year-old woman with links to the property has since been detained after a warrant was put out for her arrest. after she missed a court date. She was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 7 January charged with possession of Class A drugs but did not attend

The Nottinghamshire County Council, which spent over £3,000 on the bright green and orange banners, took down all 17 after installing them in February. The banners promoted a £34.4 million scheme to improve three roundabouts on the A614 and A6097 corridor between Ollerton and East Bridgford.
