A man has been detained
Emergency services have launched a huge response after reports of a stabbing in Southport which has results in 'a number of casualties'.
Police first scrambled to the scene at around 11.50am on Monday to reports of a stabbing at a property on Hart Street. Armed police detained a man and a knife was seized. No further information on the casualties has been released at this time, however, Merseyside Police have issued a brief statement.The statement, issued shortly after 1pm, says: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Southport following a major incident this morning, Monday 29 July.
"At around 11.50am, we were called to a property on Hart Street to reports of a stabbing. There are a number of reported casualties and more details will be confirmed when possible."Please avoid the area while we deal with this incident. There is no wider threat to the public."
