Police officers were injured and a fire was set next to a block of flats

Police have warned parents to 'expect a knock' at their door after children caused misery. Gangs of up to '50 children' - some of whom were wearing balaclavas - caused mayhem in Runcorn during Mischief Night, Wednesday, October 30. Officers were called to Meadway, Hallwood Park and Trident Retail Park due to dozens of anti-social behaviour incidents. These included a deliberate fire being started next to a block of flats while residents slept inside with their families.

Police said they had two questions for parents and carers - 'what is your child really doing when they are out?' and 'are you buying fireworks for them?' A spokesperson added: 'We have hours worth of body worn video and CCTV footage that we will now be reviewing to identify suspects for the above offences, expect a knock at your door and to be arrested.
