Officers responding to a safety concern in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, were threatened with a knife and assaulted with thrown objects, including plates and a glass bottle. One officer sustained a neck injury.
Police were "threatened with a knife" and "struck by plates and glass bottles" while responding to a report of a concern for safety in the early hours of this morning.
One police officer was struck on the back of a neck with a glass bottle. A man has been arrested for a number of offences and remains in custody.Chief Inspector Boyd said: “When police arrived at the scene and were dealing with the incident, officers were threatened with a knife by a male and had a number of items thrown at them from a window, including plates.
