The owner of Ravenshead Farm Shop in Nottinghamshire is hopeful that his latest expansion plans will be approved, as he prepares for a busy Christmas. The plans include a single-storey rear extension and a 'link' extension to a new tearoom seating area.
The owner of a popular Nottinghamshire farm shop has expressed hopes that his latest expansion plans will be approved as he prepares for a busy Christmas. The Ravenshead Farm Shop has previously been found to be one of the county's favourite in a Nottinghamshire Live poll, with a selection of meats, cheeses and award-winning homemade pies being among its produce.
Situated on Main Road, the shop was set up in 2016 and its owner previously spoke to Nottinghamshire Live about his frustration when expansion plans last year were rejected by Gedling Borough Council. The plan then would have included a single-storey rear extension, allowing more room for the preparation of food.
Gedling Borough Council said at the time that the plans were "not in line" with its policy on protecting Green Belt land. But Craig Voce, the owner of the shop, said at the time that the refusal "knocked the wind out of his sails."But fresh extension plans have now been lodged with Gedling Borough Council.
Following this approval, the latest plans seek to create a single-storey 'link' extension from the existing farm shop to this new tearoom seating area. But speaking about the new plans, Mr Voce said he and his staff were currently more focused on preparing for Christmas. The shop owner said: "We're just getting our heads down preparing for Christmas because it's going to be very busy and we can't let the customers down.
"Trade is good at the minute I hope the plan we've got in is passed, but there is going to be a lot for us to do in the run up to Christmas now." The farm shop is open from Tuesday through to Saturday.
