Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou attempts to avoid an FA Cup upset against Tamworth, facing chants from home supporters amidst increasing pressure.
After a victory against Premier League leaders Liverpool, Ange Postecoglou has been brought back to earth with a bump as he looks to avoid an FA Cup shock. The former Celtic manager took his Tottenham side to English fifth tier outfit Tamworth , with the FA Cup David versus Goliath third round meeting delayed in kicking off due to issues with the net. This saw a Tamworth player fix the issues by clambering on a teammate's back with a roll of tape.
And as the bodged repair was taking place, Ange faced chants of 'you're getting sacked in the morning' from the sold-out home end at Tamworth's tiny Lamb Ground - with the Aussie boss cutting a relaxed figure on the touchline, as he laughed with supporters crowding around the away dugout. Postecoglou has been under increasing pressure at Spurs following an inconsistent campaign - which has seen them hammer defending champions Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad, but also fail to ever string a run of form together, leaving them slumped in 12th in the Premier League. A 1-0 victory against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup came at the ideal time, however Spurs showed early signs of fatigue against their minnow opponents - with keeper Antonín Kinsky forced into a sharp save inside the first 30 seconds as the non-league side burst in on goal. He previously stressed that his players wouldn't show any disrespect to their opponents when asked about their views on getting changed in a converted portacabin. Postceoglous said; 'They are not multimillion dollar players, they are human beings who are very understanding and good people. They would never go to a place like that and disrespect it. They have all come from a place like that, some worse.
