Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is currently not under pressure despite a recent dip in form, but there is an understanding that results must improve for him to retain his position.
Ange Postecoglou is not currently under pressure as Tottenham manager, according to sources. Although the club are now 12th in the Premier League table after a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, it is thought Postecoglou is not currently under pressure in the role. Even so, there is said to be an understanding that things must improve in terms of results meaning the Australian may well be facing an ultimatum to turn things round soon if he wants to keep his job.
Football Insider Opinion Spurs and Postecoglou have had very little luck this season when it comes to the injuries they have had to deal with this season. As a result, it is perhaps understandable the Tottenham boss is currently being given some leeway, especially considering how good they have shown they can be under him. Even so, football is still about picking up results even when you do not have your best side available, and Postecoglou’s reluctance to abandon his all-out style of play has made it hard for them to do that. They have often been caught out defensively because of that, conceding at least three goals in each of their last three home games. It is a trend that simply cannot be allowed to continue if Tottenham are to win the trophies they so clearly desire after so long. So while he may be being given time now, if things do not improve once he has all his top players back available, Postecoglou may not be able to hang on to the role with Spurs for much beyond that point
