Discount retailer Poundland is rolling out a major initiative called 'Against Retail Crime' to tackle shoplifting and employee abuse in its 800 UK stores. The campaign includes investing in security enhancements, such as communications headsets for staff, Motorola Solutions VT100 body cameras in high-crime stores, and more undercover guards. Poundland aims to create a safer working environment for its employees and deter criminal activity.
A major change is coming to hundreds of Poundland stores across the country. The discount high street chain has launched a new initiative as part of its attempt to tackle shoplifting. As part of the initiative, Poundland said it was investing 'significantly' in security enhancement for its 800 UK shops.
The changes to the store will also see more undercover guards hired with its security teams given the backing to detail suspected offenders in stores until police arrive. The retailer says it is working closely with local enforcement agencies and police forces. Poundland’s head of loss prevention Christina Jesty said: “The rate of store theft and colleague abuse has accelerated significantly across our stores in the last 18 months, and this has been very challenging for our people.
