The award-winning neonatal intensive care unit at Wishaw is being downgraded and babies who are born before 27 weeks gestation will no longer be cared for there and will instead be transferred to Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen. “My babies were 24 weeks and these nurses and doctors showed that they could be saved, but how in God’s name will they do that for a lassie in the back of an ambulance. Mums will be left absolutely traumatised.
He’s just had four surgeries and his belly was so extended it was crushing his lungs, preventing him from breathing.
