Staff Reports Braya Hodges’ sacrifice fly to center field scored Emily Adams to give Houston Academy a walk-off 3-2 extra-inning win over Wicksburg Monday afternoon in a battle of state ranked high school softball teams at the Westgate Softball Complex.
People are also reading… In HA’s winning eighth inning, Adams was placed at second via the extra-inning tiebreaking rules. She moved to third on an Ansleigh Smith sacrifice before scoring on Hodges’ fly ball to center. Providence scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the bases loaded when the game ended.
Williams belted a three-run homer and a run-scoring double and Andrews had a two-run double and a two-run single in a three-hit day. For Geneva, Isabelle Padgett had two hits, including a run-scoring single. Ally Henderson also had a run-scoring single and Kaden Ward added an RBI ground out for the Panthers.
JaMya Thornton had two hits, one a double, and a run batted in, while Kaylyn Holt and Saniya Jenkins both had a hit with Holt driving in two runs and Jenkins one run.
