Staff Reports Ellie Cox struck out 11 and allowed only two runs and five hits and Lana Carpenter was 3-for-3 with two runs batted in to lead Class 2A top ranked Wicksburg to a 4-2 win over Class 5A No. 9 ranked Rehobeth in high school softball action on Monday.
Charles Henderson 21, Pike County 16: Charles Henderson was down to its final two outs twice on Monday, but rallied both times and eventually took a wild 21-16 victory over Pike County behind a 16-run top of the seventh inning. For Pike County, Emmya Moultry had three hits, including a homer, and four runs batted in. Abigail Griffin had three hits and two RBI and both Hailey Griffin and Paloma Cain-Munoz had two hits each with Griffin driving in a run.
Madisyn Jones went 4-for-4 with four doubles and a run batted in to lead Kinston. Lauren Norris had two hits, one a double, with one RBI and Bella Lashley and Aubrey Norris both added a hit and RBI with the Norris hit a double. For Samson, Makayla Phillips had two hits, including a double, with one run batted in and Ava Sormrude had a single and RBI. Haylie Grimes drove in a run on a bunt.
