A road closure in Preston, Lancashire, due to underground electricity cable repairs has caused frustration among local residents. The closure on South Meadow Street began on Friday (3 January) but was not officially announced by authorities until Sunday (5 January), leading to accusations of a lack of communication and disruption to daily life.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “Teams are currently carrying out repair work on South Meadow Street due to a fault on an underground electricity cable. For safety reasons, a road closure is in place so work can be carried out on the footpaths and in the road. The closure was approved by the local authorities and all work is expected to be completed tomorrow .
