Debbie Campbell is releasing her nine track album About Time this weekend.
A Prestwick singer says the launch of her debut album is a “message of hope” to others to go after their dreams no matter what age.
“My mum had a conversation with me recently and said: ‘I wonder where you’d be if you did this years ago’, but I wasn’t ready back then. I was so shy. Debbie, a keen committee member of Prestfest, joined Ayr Amateur Opera Company in 1998, which she says “was the making of her”, helping her to build confidence and land leading roles including Gladys in Copacabana, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar - which Prince Edward attended at Ayr Gaiety Theatre as part of the company’s centenary show - and Nancy in Oliver.
Debbie said: “I wasn’t brought up in a musical family. My big brother introduced me to a lot of music - Scott sadly died aged 23 but he set me on my musical journey.
