After finishing first and third in Saturday’s Everest, Joe Pride’s star pair are set to meet again in the Giga Kick Stakes.
Everest-winning trainer Joe Pride would ideally be sending stable stars Think About It and Private Eye on different paths, but what is effectively a $1 million appearance fee will see them go head-to-head in the Giga Kick Stakes at Rosehill next month.
“You would like to keep them apart, but they can earn so much money in bonuses. We have to be at Rosehill,” Pride said. “They need to have three runs to qualify for the sprint series, and it’s worth $1.5 million to the winner, so we would be foolish to go anywhere else. On Saturday night, Pride had a quiet moment of reflection about his partnership with Jamie Walter’s Proven Thoroughbreds, whose silks are carried by Think About It and Private Eye.Jamie Walter is the brother of legendary Sydney trainer Guy Walter, who died in 2014.
Miller was shocked to see the star four-year-old fall back at Caulfield and will make sure she fully recovers before deciding if to push on to either the Golden Eagle or Cox Plate. Amelia’s Jewel seemed a little off on Saturday morning and Miller will be patient before deciding if her preparation continues.
“We will have a go at the Prelude on the weekend with him, as we have Lion’s Roar for the Big Dance Wildcard. I would love to test at 1800m of the Five Diamonds, but we have a choice to make,” O’Shea said. “With any luck he could have won the Alan Brown Stakes last time and he is looking for further now.”The dam of legendary Winx, Vegas Showgirl, died at Segenhoe Stud in the Hunter Valley on Sunday morning.
