The National Portriat Gallery are considering adding the iconic photo of Prince Andrew during his Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis to their latest collection

An 'embarrassing' photograph of Prince Andrew could soon be up for thousands to see as the National Portrait Gallery contemplates adding an awkward photo of him to their collection.

This potential new piece in the gallery's collection could forever capture what many believe to be one of the most cringe-inducing Royal interviews ever. This comes after recent depictions of the notorious TV encounter in Netflix's 'Scoop', featuring Gillian Anderson and Rufus Sewell, and the upcoming Amazon Prime series 'A Very Royal Scandal'.Despite being the official patron of the National Portrait Gallery, Kate, the Princess of Wales, has no say over its exhibits.

Meanwhile, the National Portrait Gallery stated: "The photograph has not been acquired for the Gallery's Collection. The photograph has been offered to the Gallery as a gift by the photographer and the offer is being considered via our standard acquisitions process." With no royal responsibilities since being stripped of his honorary military titles in 2022, the 64-year-old Duke is said to be filling his time with various hobbies, such as horse riding around Windsor Castle mews and playing golf.
