It appeared in the Upper Newtownards Road area
The sticker was spotted on an electric box in the Upper Newtownards Road area at the junction with Castlehill Road. It shows two images with crosshairs over them, along with the phrase "All Taigs Are Targets."
"Those who put up these sectarian stickers do not represent the area, and many residents will be horrified to learn of their presence. I urge anyone who sees them to report them to the PSNI as a hate crime, I will be following up with local police and the council to see to their removal and the perpetrators brought to task."
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Police are investigating and appealing for information following the report of a sectarian sticker being placed in the east Belfast area.
