Please take care on the roads this morning

Drivers are being urged to exercise "extreme caution" on roads in Northern Ireland due to icy conditions.

Police issued the warning on Sunday as a Met Office yellow weather warning is in place across parts of the country for ice. It states there will be icy stretches and wintry showers bringing some travel disruption this morning. Now the police are urging drivers to take extra care.A PSNI spokeswoman said: "Motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution due to icy road conditions. Make sure you have cleared the windows on your car before setting off on your journey this morning, Sunday 11th December."

The weather warning is due to end by lunch and the Met Office said: "Probably some icy stretches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, leading to increased likelihood of accidents or injuries." The cold conditions are expected to continue this week with temperatures starting to rise again from Friday. For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here.
