The department will be accepting public comment on the project until September 6.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - On Thursday, the Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the public to their second meeting on the proposed Veterans Memorial Park Renovation project.
The park, which is located at 700 Cushman Street, is slated to experience a few changes next summer. The current renovation plans, the department says, include replacing the gazebo, installing a new plaza, replacing the aging trees with newer saplings, improving the landscaping, and adding accessible paths from the street to meet ADA requirements. The memorial itself, planners say, will not be touched.
The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Centennial Center in Pioneer Park. If you are not able to attend, you can send in your comments via email to parks@fnsb.gov. The project will be accepting public comment until September 6.
