Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert has given some top tips on how to store food properly
If you've never considered storing tea and coffee in the freezer, it might be time to reconsider. According to experts at Martin Lewis ' MoneySavingExpert, rethinking food storage habits could significantly help your money -saving efforts.
Shockingly, Business Waste reports that 9.5 million tonnes of food, worth billions of pounds, is thrown away each year. A significant portion of this, if not recycled, could end up in landfill, contributing to the growing issue of greenhouse gas emissions. If you're interested in freezing coffee and tea, the MSE team suggests using the cubes as flavour enhancers when making beverages in the future. Coconut milk, yoghurt and cream can be frozen for use in curries, sauces and smoothies too, while frozen fruit or fruit juice is perfect for smoothies.
MSE's freezer tip also comes as the gurus have just highlighted some dos and don'ts for fridge storage. Drawing on advice from WRAP, they stressed that eggs, oranges, potatoes and almost every other fruit and vegetable should go in the fridge.
