Advice on Direct Debits was shared in the Money Saving Expert newsletter
People have been urged to review their Direct Debit payments and cancel any that are no longer needed in a move which could save them hundreds of pounds. In advice shared in Money Saving Expert , a weekly newsletter founded by Martin Lewis , a financially savvy woman shared how she saved hundreds through the move.
Previously, Mr Lewis had said that people waste ‘thousands’ on unnecessary Direct Debits, Birmingham Live reports. He said: It's a shocking but typical example: ‘I've paid £16/month for white goods I no longer have for six YEARS. That's not far off £200 for nothing, every year. Many waste £1,000s paying for products and services they don't need or never use.
"This waste has taken on even more significance with the rising cost of living. So whether it's mags, gyms, utilities, Amazon Prime or paid-TV, get tough and cut 'em down." He went on: "I was told on a Radio 2 phone-in with Jeremy Vine several years ago."
