A lovely gesture

The Rose and Crown, in Derby Road in Lenton, and Sun Inn, in Derby Road in Eastwood, are offering on duty fire, police and ambulance staff a free festive sandwich as a thank you for giving up their Christmas Days to serve their local communities. As part of a community initiative at Greene King, the two pubs will be providing a hearty lunch of a turkey Sandwich, with pigs in blanket and roast potatoes to take away for any blue light workers who will be working on December 25.

Fire service, police and ambulance staff can visit the Rose and Crown between midday and 2pm. They can also visit the Sun Inn between midday and 3pm on Christmas Day. They can come to collect their sandwich directly or contact the pubs to have a sandwich ready for them on arrival, free of charge. General manager at the Rose and Crown, Stephanie Holecza, said: “We recognise that not everyone gets to spend their Christmas at home with loved ones, with many giving up their day to put the needs of others first.
