Pupils at St Stephen’s RC Primary School in Blairgowrie have been working with volunteers from the town’s Biodiversity Blair project, and other conservation groups in the area, to help make a positive difference to the environment.
The winning pupils – Donald McGregor, Lena Wolna and Kevin Wolny – were presented with certificates, a book and seeds. “The pupils were all fantastic and very enthusiastic – it’s an absolute pleasure working with them and we look forward to continuing to do so after the summer holidays.”She said: “The pupils have loved working with Biodiversity Blair. It has been a great experience for everyone involved and the children have learned lots from the Biodiversity Blair volunteers and project officer, as well as the other experts that have visited the school.
“Part of our project is to try to get primary school children more involved with hedgehog conservation and we’re looking forward to seeing the footage and, hopefully, some hedgehogs!” “One way to get involved is to take part in our monthly nature watch surveys on the second Saturday of each month, where we meet at 1.30pm in different locations in and around the town to gather useful information about the diversity of species we have here.
