Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has been left slightly underwhelmed by the appointment of Fraser Thornton as the new Rangers chairman., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – admitted he expected someone with links to new investment to be appointed to the role.
“He’s a man that’s had a lot of experience in the great product of Scotland, the Scottish Whiskey Association, so he’s done a lot in the drinks industry.
