An SFA tribunal has ruled that Rangers must pay Aberdeen £600,000 in compensation for Connor Barron's summer transfer.

Rangers have been ordered to pay Aberdeen £600,000 for Connor Barron after an SFA tribunal finalised the details of his summer move to Ibrox. The 22-year-old left his boyhood club to join the Gers on a four year deal in June after running down his contract at Pittodrie. Although Philippe Clement's side snapped the midfielder up under freedom of contract, Aberdeen were entitled to a significant fee in compensation having developed Barron from their academy to first team level.

But after the two sides were unable to agree on an amount, an SFA tribunal hearing was set to determine just how much Rangers owed the Dons. Aberdeen bosses had been left frustrated by the timescale of the hearing, with chief executive Alan Burrows questioning the SFA's process earlier this month. However, Ibrox bosses have now learned that they will have to pay £600,000 for the former Scotland U21 captain., which is significantly less than Aberdeen were hoping for. As part of the SFA regulations, the decision is final and cannot be appealed by either side. Barron has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Rangers this season and has been called up to Steve Clarke's senior squad - although he is yet to win his first cap.
