Discover how certain 50p coins, King Charles III banknotes, and other rare currency could be worth a small fortune. Learn about the specific features to look for and how much they could potentially sell for.
Don't just spend your loose cash before checking it first – as it could be more value than the number dictated on the front. That's because there are plenty of silvers and coppers in circulation that are sought-after by collectors. Rare coins that could make you a pretty penny include these three 50p pieces. We previously revealed that finding a 1p coin from one specific year 'could make you a millionaire', and now we're coming at you with even more handy advice.
It's also important to keep an eye on your banknotes, too. That's right, certain King Charles III notes could be worth a lot of money without you even realising – and we're talking thousands of pounds. According to TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard, certain serial numbers on the notes can hold a mega value. You'll need to look for an early batch – as close to the code '000001' as possible. The money guru explained: 'Now there are King Charles banknotes out in the wild, collectors are looking for low and unique serial numbers... Coins which feature the King are already found in people's change but banknotes required lots of preparation. 'Shoppers can and will still be able to use Queen Elizabeth II banknotes. Low serial numbered notes on new issues are of huge interest to collectors and can be found on the old Queen Elizabeth notes too.' If you have a desirable serial number, your £5 note could end up fetching up to £500. Meanwhile, tenners and £20 notes could sell for a staggering £500 and £1,000 respectively. The money guru added: 'A £50 note then could go for several thousands of pounds.' We must say, that would be nice
