Gerry’s Barbers on Burnley Road in Rawtenstall, Rossendale, worries about layby changes pencilled in by Lancashire County Council
One of the longest serving traders in a town says he feels his business could be under threat if plans to change the usage of the layby outside his shop is changed.
Many of Gerry’s customers tend to be on the older side and have been going to him for years. They park their cars right outside and pop in for a quick trim and a chat. There is currently a stop for the X43 just a few hundred metres further up Burnley Road which has been used without problem for years. Rawtenstall bus station is also a short distance away in the opposite direction, so there seems very little need to add this stop.
He loves the town and supports many local charities and events. His barbershop is more than just a business — it’s a hub for connection and community interaction.
