Scott McTominay felt aggrieved just days after inspiring a dramatic Manchester United comeback
Scotland fans were left distraught after Scott McTominay’s stunning free-kick was ruled out last night.
Defeat enraged the visitors but they have another chance to secure qualification against Georgia and Norway next month. Scotland boss Steve Clarke was furious with the decision after the game, feeling just as confused as every other fan north of the border.ALSO READ: United are set for season-defining run of fixtures
"It is a VAR decision that goes against you. When we conceded, it made it more difficult and the second goal puts the gloss on for Spain I don't think they deserve." Former Scots referee Bobby Madden explained the situation following the game. He said: "A lot of people saying the referee wouldn't have gone to the monitor for offside. That's incorrect. For actual offsides there is no need, but as Hendry doesn't play the ball it is a subjective 'did he interfere with an opponent' so an on field opponent would have been required.
