Former Manchester United coach Rene Hake is a leading candidate to take over as the new manager of West Bromwich Albion.
Former Manchester United assistant head coach Rene Hake is a contender to become West Bromwich Albion 's new boss. The 53-year-old is on the shortlist to replace Carlos Corberan as the Baggies close in on the Spaniard's replacement. He only moved to United in July, to work under ten Hag along with Ruud van Nistelrooy, having previously been in charge of Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles.
The Baggies have been looking for a new manager since Corberan left for La Liga strugglers Valencia on 24 December and their interview process is now at an advanced stage. Albion still expect to have caretaker trio Chris Brunt, Damia Abella and Boaz Myhill in charge for FA Cup third-round tie at Bournemouth on Saturday. Under them, the Baggies have won one, drawn two and lost one, which came on Boxing Day at Derby, to maintain their place in the Championship play-offs. The new manager is likely to be appointed before the next league game against Stoke at The Hawthorns on 18 January
