A 2.2 magnitude earthquake struck Nottinghamshire, but residents reported feeling nothing.

Residents have shared they 'didn't feel a thing' after a mini earthquake struck their village. Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, December 17, a mini earthquake, which had a magnitude of 2.2 on the Richter scale, occurred in Nottinghamshire. The epicentre of the 'seismic event' has been confirmed as being in Gotham by the British Geological Survey (BGS), with residents across the border in Leicestershire reporting that their homes had been 'shook.

' An update on X by the BGS explained that the earthquake had a depth of eight kilometres when it took place at 11.55pm. However, residents in the Nottinghamshire village did not feel or notice anything out of the ordinary. When asked about the earthquake, Lucy Tatham, 50, said: “I was up and never felt it. 'I have felt them here before, but nothing recent.' An elderly resident did also not notice anything, stating: 'We had no idea to be honest no, we saw it online yesterday. 'It happened quite late at night we heard. There was one years and years ago but not recently.' Administrator, Donna Parkes, 45, also said she 'didn't feel a thing' but would have been sleeping at the time. A retired 73-year-old woman, who did not wish to be named, added: “We did have one years ago but not one recently that I know of. It must have been 15 or 20 years ago. The hanging rail in the wardrobe was rattling the coat hangers.' Mick Turland, 79, also said that he “never felt a thing'. An elderly couple, who did not wish to be named, were shocked that there had been a small earthquake, and had not heard about it. They expressed: “We were already in bed, we never felt it. We didn’t hear a thing.
