Unlike previous versions of the play I've seen, each of the three ghosts were terryifying in their own way
A Christmas Carol is one of the best known plays, with almost everyone knowing about Ebenezer Scrooge and his distaste for Christmas. However, despite this being a tale we have all heard before, A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story managed to wow their audiences at the Nottingham Playhouse with an amazing performance unlike any other.
Keith Allen was the perfect choice for Scrooge, and he gave a strong performance throughout. It was also nice to see a narrator, played by Geoffrey Beevers, lead the audience throughout the story.Charlie Westlake and Madison Spencer-Ogioruma did a great job as Edwin and Grace Cratchit, as did Edward Harrison as Bobb Cratchit. The entire cast really embodied their characters, with most people taking on a main role and then a number of smaller roles.
Meanwhile, Bettrys Jones also gave a spine-tingling performance as the ghost of Christmas past, showing how she must hide out the light and is badly treated by society. The play stays true to the original novel, but has many exciting additions and the spine-chilling special effects really take it to the next level.
