Richie Donnelly's motivation to honor his late uncle and support his injured brother led Trillick to victory in the Tyrone SFC. Despite being underestimated by outsiders, Trillick proved their quality and defeated Errigal Ciaran in the final.
Honouring his late uncle and winning for his injured brother were powerful factors driving Richie Donnelly towards Trillick ’s ninth Tyrone SFC title.
“Don’t get me wrong, we knew inside our camp that Errigal Ciaran were a very good team and we would have to bring our best performance, but we knew it was in us.“There was a man from Errigal Ciaran told me last November that this Trillick team was finished which I was surprised at. This was Trillick’s third Tyrone crown in nine years and asked if he wanted to do it for his brother Mattie, who suffered a serious leg injury three months ago, Richie said: “absolutely”.
