The Government is facing a “significant' rebellion over house building targets this week as dozens of Tory MPs are demanding changes to planning laws. 🔴RichardVaughan1 has the story.
Ministers are due to bring back the Government’s flagship Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill, which aims to introduce various planning reforms, as well as devolution powers, when it is passed next year.
MPs held talks with Levelling Up Secretary, Michael Gove, on Thursday last week to press their case, but Mr Gove is not thought to have shifted the Government’s position on housing targets. Planning has become a crunch issue for the Tory party with attempts to overhaul the system scrapped by Boris Johnson, who was fearful of a backbench rebellion that was 70 strong.
