Rishi Sunak says China's crackdown on protesters is an 'acute' challenge to 'British values'

David Lammy, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, said the comments were “as thin as gruel”. “All it shows is that once again the Conservative government is flip-flopping its rhetoric on China,” he said. Speaking on ITV1’s Peston programme tonight, Security Minister Tom Tugendhat MP called on the Foreign Office to consider new sanctions in response to the crackdown on protesters.
