Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Across Rochester, people celebrated 4/20, an unofficial cannabis holiday at several local dispensaries.
Cannabis buds on display at Good Life Collective, the City of Rochester 's very first licensed dispensary. "What it means for the city of Rochester is great economic and development opportunities and that is what today is all about," said Evans. "Today is not only about celebrating the opportunities of this dispensary but all the ancillary products that will come for it."
There, after a ribbon-cutting ceremony, visitors saw a wide selection for various cannabis products. The ceremony was held on the occasion of 4/20, an unofficial cannabis holiday."It should be reserved in the future, probably it will be but everyone knows if you’re a cannabis enthusiast you’ll find your cannabis that day.
In Victor at the Finger Lakes Cannabis Company, which received a provisional CAURD license from the Office of Cannabis Management, another event was held, with live music and food."We get people who for whatever reason, stopped using it," said owner Mark Byassee. "They had kids, it was against the law, they had jobs.
These festivities came after Governor Kathy Hochul announced new measures to combat the sale of illicit cannabis at unlicensed businesses, as well as a state-wide task force in the 2025 state budget. The budget was passed in the state legislature on Saturday.
