The Ryder Cup teammates beat Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer in a play-off at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Rory McIlroy secured his first PGA Tour title of 2024 with a win alongside Shane Lowry in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
A par on the first play-off hole was good enough for McIlroy and Lowry with Frenchman Trainer missing is par putt.McIlroy won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic back in January, but this was his first win of the season on the PGA Tour, his 25th title overall, and is a timely boost ahead of the second major of the year - the US PGA at Valhalla from May 16.
“It’s great. It felt much-needed. Coming into the week we felt we could do with a big jump for the FedEx Cup, let’s get 400 points each and that’s what we’ve done,” said Lowry.“It’s absolutely amazing,” McIlroy told CBS Sports.
