\Irene Hodgson, of Olive House Care Home Bacup, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 25, at the age of 98. A short service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Tuesday, February 11, at 10:45 am, followed by cremation at Burnley Crematorium at 11:30 am, conducted by Gemma Rooke. Born in Manchester, she resided in Bacup for 60 years. During her working life, she held positions as a shoe operative at JJ McLeries and a Home Help for Lancashire County Council, from which she retired. Her hobbies included playing bingo, taking caravanning holidays with her granddaughter and great-granddaughters, and watching TV soaps. She was predeceased by her husband, Geoff, and son, also named Geoff. She leaves behind her daughter, Sandra, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, four sisters, and one brother. Funeral director: Anthony Johnson Funeral Services Bacup\Alan Bailey, of Stacksteads and Bacup, sadly passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 25, at the age of 87. Alan will be deeply missed by his loving family, Joan, his wife of 65 years, son Paul and his wife Trish, daughter Michelle and her long-term partner Pete. His granddaughter Laura and her husband Kev, his grandson Brad, and granddaughters Ruth and Jane, seven great-grandchildren, and his brother-in-law Peter also mourn his loss. Born and raised in Rawtenstall, Alan attended Lea Bank School and served in the Army during his National Service. He was a well-known postman in Stacksteads and Bacup and enjoyed family holidays to Spain and the Canary Islands, particularly Fuerteventura, upon his retirement. He was a past member of Bacup C.C. where he served on the committee for a time and held a season ticket at Burnley Football Club for many years. Alan's funeral will take place on Wednesday, February 12, at 1 pm. There will be a service at Knight and Boys Chapel of Rest in Stacksteads conducted by Minister Stephen Crook followed by interment at Bacup Cemetery. Refreshments will be served at Bacup C.C., and family flowers only are requested. Any donations are to be made to Dementia UK, with special thanks to Di at Barker Court, Life Style Homecare, and Irwell Medical Practice. Funeral director: Paul Swarsbrick for Knight and Boys.\Ronald Harvey Hurrocks of Fairhead Avenue, Waterfoot, Rossendale, passed away at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on January 30 at the age of 82. Ronald was a long-distance lorry driver. He enjoyed fishing and was a dedicated supporter of Liverpool FC. He was a lifelong member of Lumb Valley Anglers and Top Modern Angling Society. Ronald leaves behind his wife Renee Lynne, sons Ian and Stephen, daughter-in-law Amanda, grandsons Aiden and Dominic, and granddaughter-in-law Lauren. A service will be held on February 12 at Burnley Crematorium at 11:30 am, conducted by Andrea Robinson. Family flowers only are requested. Funeral director: Dawn Winfield, Fred Hamer Funeral Service, James Street, Rawtenstall, BB4 7NE.\Anne Trickett (née Young), of Stacksteads, passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on January 24 at the age of 80. Anne was a beloved wife to George, mum to Catherine and mother-in-law to Shaun, and she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. After leaving St Joseph's RC School, Anne worked at various places, including Ingham's Boxes, Graham's Fruit and Veg, and Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, making lifelong friends along the way. Prior to retirement, she ran 'Anne's Cattery' for 20 years alongside her husband George. She possessed a remarkable talent for music, playing the electric organ for her own enjoyment, and occasionally performing at local events and teaching others to play. Anne adored animals of all shapes and sizes, enjoyed attending the theatre, and cherished spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her kind, caring nature, and sense of humour. The funeral cortege will depart from Knight & Boys Funeral Home in Stacksteads at 10 am on Wednesday, February 12, and a funeral service will be held at Burnley Crematorium at 10:45 am. The service will be led by Kathy Unsworth. Following the service, a celebration of her life will be held at the Hare and Hounds in Stacksteads. Family flowers only please, with donations to Dementia UK. Funeral director: Paul Swarbrick for Knight and Boys.
