staff are yet to reach an agreement with their employer Cleanaway, who is contracted by City of Sydney, after demanding pay increases and improved working conditions.

New South Wales TWU secretary Richard Olsen said Lord Mayor Clover Moore and Cleanaway declined to meet their requests. He said workers had received an improved pay offer from Cleanaway but the deal would "send them backwards". Lord mayor Moore met with Cleanaway and urged them to resolve the dispute as the contract holder for the City of Sydney.
