Manchester United's perilous Financial Fair Play situation could be a rude and brutal warning for Ruben Amorim as he turns his attention to improving the squad.
Between now and January, Amorim will undoubtedly be observing his squad to see which areas he will need to strengthen if he is to unleash a 3-4-3. United are confident they will comply with FFP regulations as certain losses are permitted to be over the £105m loss during the three-year period e.g. investing in infrastructure, academies and women's teams. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is acutely aware of the money problems at Old Trafford and has been on a cost-cutting mission since arriving.
For Amorim, he may well be forced to accept that his first rebuild must wait until the summer. In the meantime, his challenge will be to implement his philosophy on this current group of players which is no small feat.
